Google preemptively marks Pixel’s scrolling stutter issue as fixed on Android 15،
On Android Public Issue Tracker, a extended thread reveals how much pain many people feel. Since October, growing complaints from Pixel 8 and 8 Pro owners describing choppy scrolling experiences caught Google's attention. However, complaints quickly spread to other Pixel models, suggesting that the problem lies somewhere in the Pixel launcher's Android code.
Android 15 to the rescue?
Google's response to the thread (as spotted by Android Font) indicates that the “next version of Android” (read: Android 15) will include a fix. This solution ? A series of optimizations aimed at fixing that dreaded “UI Jank”. The correct answer states:
“Continued performance and power optimizations are planned for the next version of Android.”
“These include improvements that positively impact the entire system user interface as well as use cases related to certain Android applications.”
This is not a new event
This isn't the first time Google has acknowledged the problem and promised a fix. These same scrolling issues already plagued the Pixel 7 when it first launched, forcing Google to quickly work on a fix rolled out as part of an Android 13 update.
While Pixel phones are generally great devices and truly my personal preference for a clean Android experience, I have to admit that Google regularly misses the mark with them. Even with a fully developed Android beta program, serious bugs can still be fixed. Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself with the long wait Android 15The final version of. At the moment, we are barely in the second version for developers.
