Alphonso Davies’ agent blasts Bayern’s contract ‘ultimatum’،

The agent of Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has criticized the club for issuing what he called an “ultimatum” over his latest contract offer to the Canadian international.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl said last week that “at some point in life you have to say yes or no” about the “very concrete and grateful offer” he said the club had made the 23-year-old left player. side player.

Davies' contract with Bayern expires at the end of next season, meaning the club could lose him in 2025 without receiving compensation if he decides not to extend.

But in an interview with German newspaper Bild on Thursday, Davies' agent Nick Huoseh said Bayern's approach was not fair to the player.

“It is unfair that Alphonso is now being attacked,” Huoseh said.

“A year ago we were close to an agreement. Then the entire club management was replaced. We didn't hear anything for seven months. Although I tried during that time to contact myself the club.

“Now we are given an ultimatum and are expected to react within two weeks because the club is under pressure and has taken a long time to reposition itself within the management? It's not fair.

“This is a very important contract in Alphonso's career and we are supposed to make the decision without knowing who will be the coach next season or what the team will look like. This is why we think it is unfair to respond to the ultimatum.”

Responding to the comments in an interview with Sky Germany, Eberl rejected the idea that the club was “under pressure”, adding that “there is a normal relationship between the player and the club”.

However, he reaffirmed that “at some point a decision will have to be made.”

Sources recently told ESPN that Real Madrid remained interested in signing Davies, but were unwilling to pay more than 40 million euros ($43.5 million) to sign him this summer and were willing to wait another year to acquire his services as part of a free transfer.

Davies' wish is to join Madrid, according to sources.

Bayern's management team has seen many changes over the past year. At the end of last season, the club fired general manager Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić, with Eberl appointed last month.

Although manager Thomas Tuchel was only appointed a year ago, the club has already announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Davies, who has 15 goals in 45 games for Canada, has made 127 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern.

A naturalized Canadian born in Ghana, Davies joined Bayern in January 2019 after the club agreed a transfer worth up to $22 million with the Vancouver Whitecaps the previous year for the then 17-year-old. It was a record for an MLS player at the time.
