Mike McDaniel says Dolphins have offer out to Odell Beckham Jr.،

The Miami Dolphins made a contract offer to wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. last week, coach Mike McDaniel said Monday at the NFL league meetings in Orlando, Florida.

Beckham visited the Dolphins last week but left without signing a contract. McDaniel, however, said he believed contract negotiations would be “ongoing.”

“Everything went well for him,” McDaniel told reporters about his visit, according to the Miami Herald. We made him an offer, and deals take time, especially with players like Odell, who has had a phenomenal career, who still has some really good football ahead of him and who has options. So, I think that These conversations will continue. We will see where they go.

McDaniel added that he's “very willing to drag him along if we come to an agreement, and I think both sides are trying to work toward that. We'll see what happens.”

The Dolphins are looking to draft a No. 3 wide receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Cedrick Wilson Jr., who held that role last season, signed with the New Orleans Saints as an unrestricted free agent.

Beckham, 31, remains one of the most popular names in the NFL despite his production declining over the years. He failed to eclipse 50 catches or 600 receiving yards in each of his last three seasons played, which were heavily impacted by injuries.

In 2020, Beckham tore the ACL in his left knee while with the Cleveland Browns, forcing him to miss the final nine games of the season. After being released by the Browns midway through the 2021 season, he joined the Los Angeles Rams and helped them win the Super Bowl, where he re-injured his left knee.

Beckham missed the entire 2022 season before signing a one-year, $15 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens, which was one of the largest one-year payments made to a wide receiver during the previous offseason. He finished with disappointing numbers (35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns), but his teammates credited his leadership and experience with guiding Baltimore to a 13-4 regular season record.

After the Ravens' loss in the AFC Championship Game to the Kansas City Chiefs, Beckham said: “If there's anything I felt about myself – regardless of anyone's opinion or anything like that – it's that I know I can still play football, and I know I still have some shit in the tank.”

Last week, Beckham said goodbye to Baltimore on social media. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Beckham will not return to the team next season for financial reasons.

“It was just more financial,” he said. “Just from a numbers standpoint, probably as far as we are, we are in a tight situation. [salary] It was a ceiling type situation and there was kind of a mutual understanding, I think that's how it is.”
