Apple may have begrudgingly bumped up iPhone 16 RAM and storage،
In the past, companies used their phones' cameras or fast processors as their main selling points. This year, AI-based features have taken center stage, with Google and Samsung already reap the profit to be early adopters. In a bid to not be left behind, Apple is also reportedly bringing AI features to the iPhone 16. This could force the company to increase the RAM count.
Will iPhone 16 offer more RAM and storage?
Leak @Tech_Reve has now shared the findings of a report from a Korean securities company that suggests iPhone16 will have more RAM to meet the demands of the AI on the device.
Alternatively, Apple could equip new phones with more NAND flash memory, so base storage could reach 256GB. This is because the AI models rely on data generated by various components of a device, such as scans, cameras and sensors. More storage will therefore be required to provide them with more data.
Apple could also end up increasing both storage and RAM, so 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage could be standard across the range.
If data centers are going to do the heavy lifting, will the iPhone16 really need more RAM or storage?
As an aside, many of the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 8's AI features are cloud-powered, so if Apple goes this route, the iPhone16 may not really need a RAM or storage increase. Recent reports indicate that the company is in talks with ChatGPT's OpenAI, Google and China's Baidu to bring AI capabilities to the market. iPhone16. The company apparently thinks its big language model needs more work.
