Nothing invites its community to design and launch a special edition Phone 2a،
Following that super secret “industry first” tease we received a few days ago from Nothing CEO Carl Pei, we finally have have the revelation what it was about. It turns out that Pei and his Nothing team are turning to the community this time to design a special edition of the Nothing Phone 2a, and the winning design will be put into production. This product will be called Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition. This will be a six-month process where the community will have the opportunity to contribute their ideas and vote for their favorite designs. The project will be divided into four stages, and participants will be able to participate in any of them corresponding to their skills. From designing the material to designing the wallpapers, from packaging the phone to managing the marketing campaign. The goal is to create a phone that truly reflects the creativity and innovation of the community. The four steps will be announced before starting and are defined as follows:
- Step 1: Material Design (opening March 26): Put your unique touch on the phone design (2a). The winner of this stage will have the chance to work directly with Nothing's industrial design team.
- Step 2 – Wallpaper Design (May): Take the winning design from Step 1 and create wallpapers that complement that material design. The winning wallpaper collection will be included in the final product.
- Step 3 – Packaging Design (June): Imagine a special unboxing experience. This design must take into consideration the winning designs from steps 1 and 2.
- Step 4 – Marketing Campaign (July): Develop a knockout marketing plan for launch. The winner of this stage will work with the brand and Nothing's creative team to develop the perfect campaign for the phone's launch.

At each stage, submissions will be voted on separately by the community and then by Nothing's internal judges. The winners of each stage will then be flown to Nothing's headquarters in London for the final launch event, which will take place later in the year. Updates, rules and participation guidelines will be detailed at each stage via the Nothing Community page.
