Remedy Says Control 2, Max Payne Remakes to Enter ‘Next Stages of Development’ This Year،
Remedy Entertainment is still benefiting from the success of Alan Wake 2, but the Finnish developer says it is moving forward on its future projects. In the future, the studio anticipates Control 2Condor and the upcoming Max Payne remakes will move into the next stages of development this year.
The company sees a drop in revenue
In a recent report from Gamesindustry.biz, Remedy published its financial results for 2023, reporting a drop in turnover of 22.2%. CEO Tero Virtala attributed this to “increased investment” in future projects.
Despite this, sales of Alan Wake 2 recouped a “significant portion of the investments made by Epic Games Publishing”, according to Virtala. There appear to be plans to develop companies like Control and Alan Wake into “franchises with high brand recognition.”
Going forward, Remedy CEO expects upcoming projects to progress further. In particular, Condor, Control 2 and the remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2 “will move to the next stages of development in the first half of 2024.”
There hasn't been a Max Payne installment since Rockstar's version of the series in 2012. With the continued interest in modern reimaginings and remakes of classic games, many will be eagerly awaiting a new iteration of the franchise black and realistic.
As for Control, the original was released in 2019, with the studio confirming in late 2022 that a sequel was in development. We don't have a release date for Control 2, Max Payne, Condor, or any other Remedy Entertainment projects, but we hope that future releases will give the company a revenue boost.
