iPhone 16 bezels will be greatly reduced, thanks to ‘borderless’ tech: report،
The iPhone 15's bezels are already incredibly thin, but Apple wants the iPhone 16 family to have even thinner bezels, a new report says.
Korean outlet Sisa Newspaper (via @Tech_Reve) reports that Apple will use a new technology called BRS (Border Reduction Structure) to achieve ultra-thin bezels on the iPhone16.
Previously, there were methods to reduce the size of the top and side frames, but the bottom frame proved to be a challenge, particularly due to heat generation issues. BRS technology apparently solves the problem because it was designed to make the bottom bezel as thin as possible. He achieves this by “winding the copper wires from bottom to top”.
Samsung Display and LG Display, which will supply panels for the iPhone16 family, will use technology. Apple usually reserves new technology for the Pro models, but BRS technology will be used for all four models. Apple's ultimate goal is to create a bezel-less smartphone.
According to previous reports, the iPhone16 and 16 Plus will feature a new vertically aligned camera setup and inherit the Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro as well as the new Capture button, which is also said to be present on the iPhone 15 Pro. iPhone16 Pro and Pro Max.
The Pro models are rumored to be larger than their predecessors and could also be a bit heavier. Additionally, they could benefit from a new 48 MP ultra-wide camera.
Overall, there won't be much change from the iPhone15 family, which is apparently why Apple will rely heavily on iOS 18 to popularize the series. The next version of the iPhone operating system is said to have AI features to better compete with rivals Samsung and Google. The Cupertino giant would even be willing to seek help from Google to power the AI features of its phones.
