Xiaomi 14 series may launch on Oct 27 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Qualcomm is set to launch its flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, earlier than last year at its Snapdragon Summit between October 24-27. It seems that Xiaomi persists in being the first smartphone manufacturer to launch flagship phones with the chipset. Rumor has it that the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro announcement will be made on October 27, a day after Qualcomm’s event ends.

Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro expected to debut with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on October 27

Although it is not official yet, reports suggest that Xiaomi will launch its next-gen Xiaomi 14 series on October 27. As noted, it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC which automatically makes Xiaomi the first taker.

The Xiaomi 13 and 14 Pro are the successors to last year’s Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, which debuted in December 2022. It seems that the Chinese smartphone maker does not want to delay the launch and might instead opt for the October 27, one day after Qualcomm’s. event, to launch its next-generation flagship phones. Xiaomi will be banking on local consumers during this time, while the international launch will likely take place in a few months as well. We say it could land internationally in January 2024, although there is no official date to confirm this yet.

As reported, the new Xiaomi 14 series will bring many updates including a new design, MIUI 15 based on Android 14, Leica-optimized camera setup, among others. The Xiaomi 14 Pro will have satellite connectivity and a titanium frame, both of which are becoming a standard in flagship phones. The phones have reportedly passed all certifications in China in preparation for their launch, which would take place in two weeks.

Xiaomi 14 Pro specifications (expected)

Citing previous reports about the Xiaomi 14 Pro specifications, we could say that it will have a 6.7-inch Micro Quad Curved 2K C8 display with an LTPO panel and a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 sits on top. The screen would light up at a peak of 3,000 nits, which is phenomenally high.

Performance-wise, under the hood we have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC capitalizing on its 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. A 4,860mAh battery sits under the hood, paired with 120W fast charging that recently received 3C certification. Optically, we have a 50 MP Sony IMX989 main shooter with OIS, a 50 MP ultra-wide, and a 50 MP telemacro camera complementing its triple rear camera setup.

As you might have already guessed, the vanilla Xiaomi 14 will have similar specifications slightly reduced to its frame since it will be a comparatively more affordable model than the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
