This summer saw the addition of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 to Samsung’s foldable smartphone lineup. Book style Galaxy Z fold 5 has made some minor improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Still, it’s still a great choice for those looking to jump into the Z Fold lifestyle. Now, rumors in the tech space suggest that the upcoming Z Fold 6 might not bring any significant improvements either. While Samsung may have some upgrades in the works for the Z Fold 6, a new camera doesn’t appear to be part of the plan. . Renowned tipster Ice Universe, as reported by Android titlessuggests the 2024 book-style foldable will remain with the same 50MP sensor found on the Galaxy Z fold 5 and fold 4.

Since last year, Samsung has equipped its Fold series devices with a 50 MP main camera, a notable upgrade over the 12 MP unit featured in the Galaxy Z Fold 3. If the rumor goes checks, the 2024 foldable could retain this primary shooter, which, in fact, the company also uses on its S series flagships.

As OnePlus makes its foray into the foldable phone market with its OnePlus Open, Samsung faces increased competition. And while Samsung isn’t making any upgrades in the camera division, it seems like it’s working to make the phone thinner.

According to reports from ELEC, Samsung is taking a leaf from its Chinese competitors’ playbook by reverse engineering their latest foldable devices to figure out how they achieved a slimmer design. Armed with this information, Samsung aims to apply it to its next foldables, aiming for a thinner form factor.

Compared to recent foldable versions from Huawei, those from Samsung Galaxy Z fold 5, at 13.4mm when folded, lags behind in terms of thickness. Huawei’s Mate X3, launched in April, features a slim profile of 11.8mm, while the Mate Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 3, unveiled in August, takes the lead at just 10.9mm thick. Clearly, there’s room for improvement in terms of slimness for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold.

On a different note, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is rumored to come with a significantly improved 50 MP primary rear camera. This improvement could elevate the imaging capabilities of Samsung’s first flip phone, bringing them in line with those of the Galaxy Z fold 5.

Of course, while the Z fold 5 Featuring three rear-facing snappers, the Z Flip 6 is unlikely to add a tertiary sensor to the mix, even with the speculated upgrade to its main camera.
