Doom Eternal May Be Getting Official Mod Support Soon،
For a while, many Eternal destiny fans were hoping that official mod support would at least come to the PC version of the game. As of now, it's possible that this could come to fruition in the not too distant future.
Doom modding is as old as time
According to a recent report from WCCFTechthere have been updates to the Doom Eternal changelog, as noted Steam Database. An interesting entry in the list is where it says that the “DoomModPortal.exe” executable has been added.
There was also something called “Launch modPortal” that was also downloaded. These changes took place yesterday, and it kind of suggests that the latest Doom game will finally get mod support.
It's worth noting that there has been no confirmation on this from id Software, Bethesda, or any other company officially associated with the game as of this writing. For now, we can only speculate, but the inclusion of these mod-based tools, according to SteamDB, suggests that modding is incoming.
Released in 2020, Eternal destiny picked up where the highly acclaimed 2016 reboot left off. Once again perfecting an intense blend of modern gaming visuals with old-school, high-octane FPS action, the latest entry in the iconic series shows that there is still life left in the franchise.
Many will claim that a new Doom is on the horizon. At the moment we don't know what id Software has planned. There has been speculation that a new Quake game – or possibly a remake – could be in the works. But we'll just have to wait and see what the studio has planned.
