Man City’s Ederson out for Brazil, in doubt for Arsenal،

Manchester City goalkeeper Éderson is expected to be ruled out for Brazil's upcoming friendlies against England and Spain due to a muscle problem, sources have told ESPN Brazil.

Ederson is reported to have suffered a muscle injury to the rectus femoris in his right leg and is expected to be out for three to four weeks. The schedule could also keep City's number one sidelined for their Premier League match with fellow side Arsenal on March 31.

The Brazil international, 30, was injured after colliding with Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Jurgen Klopp's side. City manager Pep Guardiola said after the match that the player's injury “didn't look good”.

Brazil, under new coach Dorival Junior, will face England on March 23 at Wembley and face Spain three days later in Madrid. Ederson was expected to start both matches as Brazil are without Liverpool goalkeeper Allison, who is unavailable with a hamstring problem.

City, who host Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, are third in the Premier League, one point behind leaders Arsenal, who are ahead of second-placed Liverpool on goal difference.

Guardiola and City will face a race against time to get Ederson ready in time for their home game against Arsenal at the end of the month.
