Blend business and pleasure on the same phone with Verizon’s dirt-cheap new Second Number feature،
Have you ever felt the need to use two different phone numbers for various business or personal reasons? Instead of carrying two mobile devices with you all the time, which can be a bit complicated (not to mention expensive), Verizon will let you activate one device that lives up to its name. Second number function to your account for just $10 per month until June 5.
This seems much more convenient than the traditional alternative and it also seems much less suspicious to anyone who might want to pry into your… secret business. Of course, you don't have to be a double agent or a Tinder addict to find this new service useful, as Big Red points out, a second phone number can greatly help people who run side gigs as well as Frequent sellers in online marketplaces keep their primary and secondary businesses separate with little effort and minimal costs.
Speaking of costs, it's important to point out that the June 5 deadline mentioned above refers to the length of time you need to “lock in” the promotional price of $10 per month, which should then remain unchanged in perpetuity ( or until Verizon change of opinion). If you do not register before this date, you will obviously be able to do so later, but only for an increased monthly cost of $15.
Regardless, this seems like a pretty affordable method to essentially get an extra line of wireless service with unlimited calls and texts included. There will be no data on this, however, making the plan extremely cheap. Be careful, you'll have to take care of all the data-related activities on your main line, which presents a series of… challenges that you can only overcome by using good old text messaging.
To get started, you will need to be an existing
Verizon customer (well, duh!) with a dual SIM smartphone in your possession. Although the country's leading carrier has a
extended support webpage dedicated to explaining how you can use two numbers on a compatible handset, there doesn't seem to be any list containing all of these devices (or at least some of them), making today's launch a bit incomplete and confusing.
