Scan on the go: Files by Google gets a built-in document scanner for Pixel phones،
Any improvement aimed at improving the user experience is always a welcome change, and it looks like Pixel phone owners are in for a treat.
According to information from serial leaker Mishaal Rahman (via Android Authority), Google introduces a document scanner in the Files by Google app. Notably, this feature appears to be part of a server-side update, eliminating the need for users to install a new version of the app to access it.
The Files by Google app is getting a new “Scan” button that lets you scan documents.
Scanned documents are saved as PDF files in a new “Scanned” collection under “Documents” (the actual location is /Files by Google/Scanned).

When you launch the application, a new addition awaits you: a “Scan” button in the lower right corner. A simple press of this button begins the process of scanning documents using your Pixel's rear camera. Whether you prefer automatic capture or manual definition of the scanning area, the choice is yours. Plus, you can refine your scans by cropping, rotating, cleaning, and even adding filters for that extra touch. Once the scanning process is complete, your transformed documents will find their place in PDF form in the new “Scanned” folder of the application. It's worth noting that a document scanner is also present in the Google Drive app, and the one built into Files By Google works the same way by identifying and processing documents directly on the device.
It seems that this feature is currently available to many Pixel device users. If you own one, it's worth checking to see if this handy addition has already landed on your device.
Recently, Google started rolling out the March 2024 software update to Pixels, packed with bug fixes and improvements. However, that's not all, as the tech giant is also rolling out the March 24 Pixel Feature Drop. This update brings improvements to call screening and social media. It also introduces new AI features, including Circle to Search, which has now made its way to the Pixel 7.
