James, Van Dijk unveil new Liverpool FC x LeBron collection،
A year after launching their first collaboration, Liverpool are once again teaming up with LeBron James to create a second collection of bespoke athletic and streetwear clothing.
Los Angeles Lakers star James had just become the all-time leading scorer in NBA history when the first Liverpool FC x LeBron collection released in February 2023, and now he's revealed LBJ Chapter 2 x LFC just days after reaching 40,000 career points.
James has become a fixture at Liverpool in recent years, being both a fan and minority shareholder in the Premier League club since 2011.
To launch the collection, James stood alongside Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk – or, as the basketball star dubbed him in a post to congratulate the Dutch defender on taking the armband, “VVD my boy” .
Chapter 2 of the line merges the aesthetic of football and basketball and includes a limited edition hoops jersey, soccer jersey and a new redesign of James' iconic Nike LeBron sneakers – all in one color palette reminiscent of Liverpool's classic teal strip. .
The two jerseys both feature the famous “YNWA” (“You'll Never Walk Alone”) printed design on the stomach, which is also woven into the fabric alongside LeBron's personal mantra “SFG”, which stands for “Strive For Greatness.”
The football shirt is black with gold and teal trimming and features a tonal checkerboard pattern consisting of squares, stripes, the two aforementioned mantras as well as the Liverpool club crest and 'King James' logo of LeBron.
The basketball version sees the colors mixed to create a teal vest with black and gold accents that features the same pattern, crests and details affixed to the front.
The super lightweight sneakers are technically referred to as the LFC x LeBron Nike NXXT Gen Amplified Sneakers and are white with a teal sole. Liverpool's 'Liver bird' club crest is also emblazoned in gold on the tongue and heel, meaning the Reds will be there with James every time he takes to the pitch wearing them.
The wider clothing collection, worn by Liverpool stars including Alisson Becker, Ryan Gravenberch, Taylor Hinds and Andy Robertson, also includes t-shirts, a warm-up top and a jacket.
Van Dijk, who is hoping to beat rivals Arsenal and Manchester City and captain Liverpool to win their second Premier League title in five years, said: “It’s great to have worked together alongside LeBron to launch this collaboration. I'm excited for everyone to see what we've created.
Liverpool vice-captain Hinds, who scored goals in Women's Super League clashes against Manchester City and Manchester United this season, added: “It's another great collaboration between LFC and LBJ, a mix fantastic basketball and football matches.
