The Galaxy A55 is not yet official, but a Russian leaked his review،
TL;DR:
- Samsung needs magic tape to stop leaks
- The Galaxy A55 packs Samsung's 2.75GHz octa-core Exynos 1480 chipset
- The Xclipse 530 GPU is a collaboration between Samsung and AMD
Remember those magic tape commercials: an overenthusiastic guy stands next to a leaking barrel of water, then he applies a piece of tape to it and the problem is immediately solved? Yeah, well, Samsung needs a mile of this guy's tape to fix its leaks. The last thing that shouldn't have appeared – but did anyway – is the Galaxy A55.
We're not talking about leaked specs, as they were released before the end of February. No, this time a 15-minute video review was leaked before the phone went official. As you probably know if you love the Galaxy, the A55 and Galaxy A35 are expected in Europe on March 11.
This Galaxy A55 The review is in Russian and is live on the Chinese video streaming platform Bilibili. This is a 15-minute video that offers a detailed look at the upcoming Samsung smartphone (via Android titles). According to the critic, the Galaxy A55 contains Samsung's 2.75 GHz octa-core Exynos 1480 chipset and its performance is similar to that of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G from 2021. This seems uninspiring, but there is good news.
The handset is put through several benchmark tests and its performance is consistently significantly higher than its predecessor. Geekbench and AnTuTu scores are up more than 20%, which is not insignificant. A 15-minute CPU speed limit test also didn't raise the device's temperature to an uncomfortable level, nor did it see a big drop in performance due to thermal throttling.
The Exynos 1480's Xclipse 530 GPU is a custom solution co-developed by Samsung and AMD with the latter's RDNA 2 graphics architecture. Although this GPU is based on the older AMD RDNA2 graphics architecture (from the Galaxy S22 series), it should be significantly better than the Mali GPU in the Galaxy A54. In the review, it offers a 31.4% performance improvement over the Galaxy A54's Mali-G68 GPU on Geekbench. The new chip would also bring a whopping 167% increase in NPU performance.
THE Galaxy A55 contains 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage (expandable via microSD card), but an upgraded version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage will also be available for purchase.
According to previous reports, the Galaxy A55 The 5G sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. As for the camera, Samsung's mid-range smartphone has a triple camera setup consisting of 50% primary sensors. megapixel, 5 megapixel ultra-wide and 5 megapixel macro. Expect a 32-megapixel selfie sensor and an under-display fingerprint sensor.
