iOS 17.4 lands with new features and bug fixes for your iPhone،

iOS 17.4 is now available for download and arrives just as the EU's deadline for complying with the Digital Markets Act is about to expire. To install the update, go to Settings, go to General and tap Software Update.

Most of the changes introduced with the update are aimed at consumers residing in Europe and are a direct result of the Digital Markets Act which aims to create a fairer trading environment by imposing obligations and restrictions on tech titans occupying a dominant position in the market.

iPhone users in Europe will have more options than the App Store to download apps. Currently, iPhone owners can only use web browsers based on Apple's WebKit engine, but starting with iOS 17.4 this ban will be removed.

Apple's Safari browser will now remind you that you are free to select a different default. And finally, EU users will be able to use non-Apple Pay payment services to pay for things.

The update doesn't entirely revolve around DMA and many changes aren't location specific. All users receive new emojis, including mushrooms, lime, and broken chains, and various people and body emojis have added the ability to face them in either direction.

Transcripts are now available for Apple Podcasts, allowing users to read the full text of podcasts. This is a great option for users with hearing problems.

The Stolen Device Protection feature has been updated to add another layer of security in the event a phone is stolen.

iPhone 15 users will see more context about their device's battery health to help them decide if it needs repair. They will also see information such as number of cycles and date of manufacture.

iOS 17.4 also fixes a few issues, including blank contact images in Find My and a bug encountered by Dual SIM users that changed the phone number from primary to secondary.
