Eric Dier makes loan move to Bayern Munich permanent

Eric Dier's loan from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich has been made permanent after he completed the required number of appearances stipulated in his contract, the Bundesliga club announced on Saturday.

The England defender joined Bayern on loan in January on a deal until the end of the season after spending a decade with Spurs, reuniting with former teammate Harry Kane.

Bayern said Dier's contract had been extended until June 2025 with Max Eberl, Bayern's sporting director, saying the 30-year-old had provided “valuable support” in defense.

Dier has played seven times for Bayern in the Bundesliga, including five starts.

“I'm happy in Munich. Now my future is sorted and I can focus on playing well for the club and trying to help the club win matches, win competitions, even if it has been a difficult time for us,” Dier said.

After winning the Bundesliga 11 years in a row, Bayern are second this season, seven points behind unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen, who have a game in hand.

Bayern will host Lazio on Tuesday in the round of 16 of the Champions League, trailing 1-0 from the first leg.
