Major leak reveals which chips Apple will use on upcoming iPad and iPhone models،
With the arrival of new iPads and the next generation of iPhone models expected later this year, inquisitive minds would like to know what chips Apple plans to use to power these devices. The escape, seen on
AppleInsider, is attributed to a fugitive who keeps a low profile and has an exceptional track record. AppleInsider claims that the leaker protected the posts and a small list of followers and that the post does not reveal the username or platform he posts on.
The first two leaked devices will be powered by the A14 Bionic from 2020, and it appears they are two variants of the entry-level iPad. However, the 10th generation iPad already has the A14 Bionic under the hood. These units could be the 10th generation iPad with updated internal specifications for the education market. Nothing to see here.
Next, both variants of the iPad mini 2024 will see an upgrade from the A15 Bionic chip used on the currently available model to the 3nm A17 Pro that you can find on the
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. To date, these are the only two phones using a 3nm chipset.
With the rumored addition of a 12.9-inch model, the iPad Air is expected to be available this year with two different screen sizes, 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch. If this sounds a little familiar, these dimensions are close to the 11-inch and 12.9-inch screens of the iPad Pro (2022). Apple hopes a cheaper lineup with these two screen sizes will attract buyers without cannibalizing iPad Pro sales.
The iPad Air 2024 will be powered by Apple's M2 chip, built on TSMC's second-generation 5nm process node. The current version of the iPad Air sports the M1 chip. The M2, just in case you're curious, is the SoC that currently runs the iPad Pro (2022) line.
Speaking of the iPad Pro, Apple's high-end tablets are getting something new this year that hasn't been seen on any iPad before OLED panels. And while we still don't know if the larger model will feature a 12.9-inch display or get a slight increase to 13-inch, the leaker tells us that the 2024 iPad Pro units will feature the 3nm M3 SoC.
Speculation calls for the iPhone 16 series to use two different versions of the same 3nm chip
Now for the iPhone 16 series. Previous rumors called for
iPhone16 And
iPhone16 Additionally, to carry the 3nm A18 Bionic while the more ambitious A18 Pro, also made using TSMC's 3nm node, would power the
iPhone16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Does the mysterious fugitive agree? According to
MacRumorsthe same leaker told them that all iPhone 18 series models will use the same chip, manufactured using TSMC's second-generation 3nm N3E process node.
But there will be a performance difference. The A18 chip used with the iPhone16 And iPhone16 Plus will have fewer performance processors or cores compared to the fully functional version that will power the iPhone16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
We should see the iPad Air and iPad Pro 2024 models revealed and released as early as this month (I almost forgot the schedule shot today) while the schedule for the iPad mini is unknown. Regarding the iPhone16 series, we don't see anything that could take Apple away from its traditional September unveiling and release.
