Galaxy Z Fold 6 vs. Galaxy Z Fold 5 Design Showdown: Boxy vs. Rounded A More Clouser Look at Exclusive Renders،

Earlier this week, in collaboration with @OnLeaks, we offered an exclusive first look at the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Since then, many of you have expressed keen interest in learning more about the device, including on its comparison with its predecessor. , the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Although the two phones share a similar first impression, their designs reveal notable distinctions. To provide a comprehensive understanding, we are excited to present a more in-depth look at these differences, again in partnership with @On leaks.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 vs. Z Fold 5: design differences

Our exclusive renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 revealed a move towards a more boxy design compared to its predecessor. While the Galaxy Z Fold 5 features rounded corners and edges, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 adopts a flat design, reminiscent of the Galaxy S24 Ultra (review).

However, when we take a closer look, a few changes to the Galaxy Z Fold 6's camera module become evident. First, the camera rings are slightly larger than those on the Z Fold 5. Additionally, the lenses protrude more from the camera module. Whether this indicates a larger camera sensor or if it's just a design aesthetic, we're not sure.

As you can probably already notice, the inner bezels of the screen are also square and no longer rounded. This means that the interior screen will be more rectangular than ever. Take a look at the GIF below for a better understanding.

Despite these differences, the overall shape and design of the camera module remains consistent. The flash, located to the right of the camera module, appears slightly larger and has a different pattern.

Speaking of a rectangular screen, the screen on the outer lid seems to lose its curved corners, turning into a rectangular screen. The curves of the Z Fold 5's exterior screen weren't pretty, so it makes sense for Samsung to get rid of unused space and expand the screen.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6's speaker grilles have been redesigned, with a single continuous hole instead of the multiple smaller holes found on the Galaxy Z Fold 5. For those curious about the hinge, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 probably uses the same droplet. Flexible hinge style like the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Additionally, as mentioned in our previous article, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 retains all the same ports, microphones, antenna bands, camera lenses, and buttons in the same places as the Z Fold 5. The actual dimensions of the device, however, are slightly different.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 1.4mm shorter and 2.6mm wider than the Z Fold 5. Screen sizes, measured diagonally, remain largely unchanged, with the inner display measuring 7.6 inches and the exterior screen measuring 6.2 inches. This means the unusual aspect ratio of the outer display won't go away, but we do see some minor improvements.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 brings some notable improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 5. While the overall shape and design of the device remains familiar, Samsung has made subtle but noticeable changes to the camera module, to the screen bezels and display of the outer cover.

Stay tuned for more updates as we look forward to the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, expected on July 10, 2024.
