Riding the Galaxy Ring wave? Honor is working on its first smart ring and flip phone،

Honor, the Chinese company that became an independent brand following US sanctions against Huawei in 2020, is striving to establish itself in the world of technology. At this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the company unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Honor Magic 6 Pro. But it seems that Honor still has a few surprises in store for us. In an interview with CNBC (via Android titles), Honor CEO George Zhao revealed that the company is preparing to unveil a foldable flip phone later this year. But that's not all! Honor is also diving deeper into the world of wearable technology with its first-ever smart ring in the works.

During the interview at MWC, George Zhao said:

Honor's decision to roll out a foldable aligns perfectly with its strategy to compete in the high-end market, taking on giants like Samsung and Apple. While the company already has several foldable phones in its lineup, like the Honor Magic V2 launched last year, this new flip phone marks a departure from its current book-style foldable devices. Honor entering the foldable arena means that it will no longer directly compete with just the Galaxy Z Fold series, but also the Galaxy Z Flip series. Depending on the timing of the launch, the company's foldable flip could face both the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Honor's CEO hinted at integrating AI features into this upcoming foldable device, giving it a better chance against the Galaxy Z Flip 6which should feature Galaxy AI.

As for the company's entry into the smart ring market, the news came just a day after Samsung officially introduced its first-ever Galaxy Ring. In the interviewZhao divulged very few details about the product, but he did drop a few clues, like its name:

Already equipped with a range of smart watches capable of tracking certain health indicators, Honor is preparing to expand its wearables portfolio by introducing a smart ring. The move will allow Honor to seamlessly integrate these devices with its health app, providing users with even more comprehensive health and activity data. Stay tuned for updates, as more details about these very first devices from the company have yet to be revealed.
