Designed as the foldable phone “for young people,” ZTE's Nubia Flip 5G costs just $599, making it the cheapest foldable phone at launch, and marking a watershed moment for form factor affordability.

Previously, the cheapest foldable was the Motorola Razr 2023, which launched with a starting price of $699 in the US, and the Nubia Flip 5G is now under that low price by a full Benjamin. Granted, the Moto Razr 2023 is currently marked down to $500 at Best buybut its price on the release date was $200 higher.

What are the specifications of the cheapest foldable phone?

In fact, nothing to complain about. The Nubia Flip 5G features a 6.9-inch “ultra-clear” flexible display with a 120Hz refresh rate that folds thanks to a solid hinge moving a dual-rail suspended fin that helps it to close easily and deploy the “wrinkles”.

We can attest that the Flip 5G has a barely visible crease when opened, although it is relatively bulky when the camera island is also taken into account. The cover screen is unique in that it sits right in the middle of the camera ring and is only suitable for widgets and notifications.
