Bayern Munich 2-1 RB Leipzig (24 Feb, 2024) Game Analysis،

Harry Kane scored twice, including a stoppage-time winner, to guide Bayern Munich to a 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday, ending a run of three defeats in all competitions and remaining eight points behind leader Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bavarians, desperate to end a run of two consecutive Bundesliga defeats, including one in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Lazio, ended a turbulent week on a high note after deciding to part ways from coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

“We played a very good first half, but we failed to take the lead,” Tuchel said. “The second half was a bit complicated. We scored the first goal while Leipzig were strong.

“We reacted well after the equalizer. This victory does us good after three consecutive defeats.”

Bayern are in second place, eight points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who lead with 61 points after their 2-1 win over Mainz on Friday. Leipzig remained fifth with 40.

Tuchel said talk of title chances at the moment was superfluous.

“We don't need to talk about this [title chances]”, he said. “We have to win every game now. The situation is clear, Leverkusen has a big lead. Now we have to face this situation. »

Harry Kane once again came to Bayern Munich's rescue to claim a well-deserved victory against RB Leipzig.

Bayern should have taken the lead in the first half when Kane hit the post with a header in the fifth minute and went close again with a bicycle kick.

Leipzig got off to the better start after the break, testing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer on several occasions before Kane intervened on the fast break after good early work from Jamal Musiala.

Leipzig, fighting for a top four finish and a place in next season's Champions League, had two golden chances with Benjamin Sesko, but each time Neuer denied the Slovenian.

The goalkeeper was beaten in the 70th minute when Sesko's shot was slightly deflected to catch him on the wrong foot.

Kane, however, came to the rescue once again with his 27th league goal of the season, drilling in a powerful low shot to snatch all three points.

“Harry has been doing this since he was 14, scoring 50 goals every year and that won't change,” Tuchel said.

“It's mathematics. The more he misses, the more likely he is to score on his next opportunity.”
