Everton’s Dyche calls for clarity amid 10-point penalty appeal،

Sean Dyche has called for more clarity on his Everton side's 10-point deduction for breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and subsequent appeal, saying a quick decision is “for the greater good of football”.

Everton dropped points in November for the season ending in 2021-22 financial figures and were accused in January of more PSR breaches, alongside Nottingham Forest.

The Merseyside club are appealing the sanction, the largest in Premier League history, and Dyche said on Thursday that the slow pace of legal proceedings was causing confusion for several teams in the division.

“We have no idea, or certainly not at the moment,” Dyche told a news conference. “Guiding lines [for a decision] it was towards the end of the month so we'll just have to wait and see.

“I don’t know the legality of the calls but it’s in everyone’s interest [for a quick resolution]. First ours. But for the greater good of football, everyone is scratching their heads and asking questions.

“During this period you always look at a ranking where they immediately took 10 points and you don't know what's happening with those 10 points.

“It would be helpful if it was sooner rather than later, but I don’t know how the legal process works and why it’s taking so long.”

Premier League regulations state that a club cannot lose more than £105 million ($133.6 million) over a three-year period.

Everton are 17th in the table, only ahead of Luton Town in the relegation zone on goal difference.

If their appeal against the 10-point penalty is successful, Everton would occupy 12th place.
