Exclusive: Google Pixel Fold 2 360-Degree Video And 5K Renders Reveal; No More Horizontal Camera Visor،

It's not every day that we see radical new smartphone designs that could change the course of developments. For years, Google Pixel phones have followed a similar design language, helping models establish their identity. Leading the front is the horizontal camera visor, which has been around since the Pixel 6 was released in 2021. Even when the company entered a new category, namely foldable phones, it retained the iconic look of the Pixel Fold. However, that's about to change with the Pixel Fold 2.

Pixel Fold 2 360-degree video

In collaboration with @OnLeaks, we're showing off the first 360-degree, 5K CAD-based video renderings of the Pixel Fold 2, Google's next-generation foldable due out this year. The 360-degree video reveals the sleek smartphone that is the Pixel Fold 2, in its dark gray, or what the company likes to call Charcoal finish. The first 10 seconds show the smartphone in an unfolded state, with the interior screen measuring 7.9 inches diagonally. Factoring in the corners, the measurement rises to 8.1 inches.

Two to three seconds into the video, we can see the placement of several functional elements. For example, the USB-C port, speaker grill, microphone, and SIM tray are on the bottom bezel, while the power/volume buttons are on the right side. On the top, the phone features an antenna band and a secondary speaker grille, while the left bezel looks shiny and clean. When unfolded, the phone measures approximately 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.27 mm.

The video also reveals the presence of a camera sensor at the top right of the interior screen. We learned that it is an under-display camera setup accompanied by a new sensor that was not part of the previous Pixel Fold.

The second half of the video reveals the phone's cover screen and rear camera setup. Talking about the cover screen, it measures around 6.4 inches. With the corners, the number goes up to 6.6 inches. We can also see the punch-hole camera located in the center at the top. When folded, the phone measures approximately 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.54 mm.

The display sizes clearly show that the Pixel Fold 2 will come with larger screens than the original model. This, in turn, also increases the overall dimensions of the phone. Additionally, the phone is significantly thinner.

Addressing the elephant in this room, the Pixel Fold 2 will have a triple rear camera setup with multiple sensors. Instead of a horizontal visor, Google opted for a bulky, rectangular camera island that protrudes from the rear panel. The island houses two pill-shaped cutouts.

In the first cutout at the top is a camera sensor and a pair of sensors that could make focusing easier. The bottom cutout contains two more camera sensors and a small cutout that may belong to another sensor. The flash module and a microphone sit to the right of these camera sensors.
