Adobe has launched its AI Assistant for Reader and Acrobat users. The tool is based on the machine learning models behind Acrobat Liquid Mode, which supports responsive reading experiences for PDFs on smartphones. AI Assistant is the first step toward transforming digital documentary experiences with generative AI. This will benefit both PDF creators and consumers.

Availability and features of Adobe AI Assistant

AI Assistant is available for Acrobat Individual, Pro, Teams customers, and Acrobat Pro testers. Below is a list of all the new features that Assistant brings, including generative summaries and smart citations.

According to the official press release, the new AI Assistant can answer and recommend questions based on the content of a PDF.
It can also create a quick summary of the content of long documents.
The custom attribution engine helps users verify the source of AI Assistant responses.
For better navigation in the PDF, the wizard provides users with clickable links.
Users can ask the wizard to format content from a PDF into easy-to-read pointers or bulleted lists. It also allows them to copy and paste the list into emails, presentations or Word documents.
Finally, customers can use the AI Assistant with other document formatssuch as Word, PowerPoint, meeting transcripts, etc.

These features will help people in various things. For example, it will allow project managers to scan, summarize and distribute meeting highlights in seconds. The AI Assistant allows sales staff to personalize pitch decks and respond to customers. Adobe will make the feature available via an add-on subscription

For now, AI Assistant remains in beta, meaning it is only available to a select number of users using the tool and providing feedback. However, a support page on the company's official website reveals that the AI Assistant will be available as a button at the top left of the window and in the All Tools section. When the feature is no longer in beta, Reader and Acrobat users can get it for an additional subscription.
