Warframe is now available on iOS devices

Warframe, the free-to-play third-person shooter and multiplayer online action role-playing game developed by Digital Extremes, is now available on iOS devices. Officially revealed last year, the iOS version of Warframe is not just a simple port of the PC game.

iPhone and iPad gamers benefit from exclusive mobile features designed to enhance the gaming experience on touchscreens. One of the most important mobile features is called “Automated Attacks”.

This was implemented to support fast-paced, mobility-based gameplay on mobile devices. For example, shooting and melee attacks have been automated, so when a player moves the crosshairs over a target, the game will automatically trigger primary and secondary weapons. Additionally, when a player's character is positioned next to an enemy, they will automatically attack the target in melee combat.

In addition to automated attacks, mobile players receive the Sensor Ring, which should provide directional indicators for out-of-frame objects. This is a very useful gaming feature given that mobile phones have much smaller screens, so it can be difficult to keep track of important objectives.

Another major mobile exclusive feature is the virtual Bullet Jump button. Holding this button will allow players to aim their jump by adjusting the camera on the right side of the screen.

Obviously, touch controls have also been implemented in the game, as well as virtual buttons to make the game more comfortable. Last but not least, Warframe for iOS features cross-platform saving, meaning players can continue where they left off on any other platform the game is available on.

Digital Extreme has confirmed that an Android version of Warframe is already in the works and will be available at a later date. A closed beta version of Android will also be hosted very soon.
