Carl Pei debunks rumors that Nothing Phone (2a) will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7200،

Nothing is gearing up for the March 5 launch of its highly anticipated Nothing Phone (2a), and CEO Carl Pei is keeping the hype going with a series of teasers. In typical fashion, Pei took to X (formerly Twitter) today to directly debunk popular rumors regarding the phone's chipset.

For weeks, industry speculation has pointed to the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC powering the Nothing Phone (2a). However, Pei's post puts those rumors to rest. So what will the mysterious chipset be? We won't have to wait long to find out as the company previously announced that it will officially reveal the answer tomorrow at 10am London time. It's 5 a.m. Eastern Time for those of us on the East Coast of the United States and 2 a.m. on the West Coast.

The Dimensity 7200 being out of the race, new rumors spread quickly some suggesting a custom MediaTek chip like the “Dimensity 7200 Ultra”. This is a trend that has been seen among some smartphone brands looking to give a touch of exclusivity to their devices, but it remains to be seen if Nothing will follow suit. Another option on offer is the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2.
Besides the chipset mystery, the Nothing Phone (2a) would also have included a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, 8/12 GB of RAM, 128/256 GB of storage, a dual rear camera system with two sensors 50MP (main and ultra-wide) and support for 45W charging. Pricing is another point of interest, with leaks suggesting a price of €349 (~$375) for the base model 8/ 128 GB and €399 (~$428) for the 12/256 GB version. These prices would position the Phone (2a) as an attractive mid-range offering.

We will stay tuned to Rien and Carl PeiThe chipset's social networks will be revealed tomorrow. However, the official reveal of the device will take place on March 5th.
