After months of rumors and anticipation, Xiaomi India has announced the launch date of its latest flagship, the Xiaomi 14. The handset was released in the company's native market months ago. However, Xiaomi did not initially announce a global launch date. Nonetheless, now that the handset is confirmed to arrive in the country, let's learn more about the launch date, expected specifications, and price.
Xiaomi 14 launch date
Xiaomi will launch the vanilla Xiaomi 14 in India on March 7, 2024. The company confirmed this through its official X-page on February 19, 2024. However, the caption only mentions one of the three expected smartphones in the series. The message reads: “#Xiaomi14 is ready to capture all the enlightening moments. »
This indicates that the other two phones in the series, namely the Xiaomi 14 Pro and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, may not arrive in the country. Oddly, the company won't be launching it in one of the world's largest smartphone markets. Furthermore, the Ultra variant has also appeared on the BIS certification site, which suggests that it could be launched in India.
Expected specifications of the Xiaomi 14
Since the phone has already been sold in its home country for a few months, we have a good idea of the specifications. Unless the company decides to make any last-minute changes, the Xiaomi 14 will come with a 6.36-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display will also feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for protection against nicks and scratches.
Under the hood, the smartphone will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, the latest and greatest chipset for Android smartphones. Additionally, users will benefit from LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, improving overall performance. The smartphone is powered by a 4,610mAh battery with support for 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Out of the box, the Xiaomi 14 is expected to run on Hyper OS based on Android 14.
Regarding optics, the Xiaomi 14 is expected to have a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP telephoto lens. On the front, users will get a 32MP selfie shooter. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, NFC, and USB 3.1 Gen 1. Other features include IP68 water and dust resistance rating, fingerprint scanner integrated digital, dual stereo speakers and an infrared transmitter for the remote control.
Expected price of Xiaomi 14 in India
The handset is expected to cost around Rs. 9,999. 55,000 to 60,000 for the base variant with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. This should put it in direct competition with the OnePlus 12, which has similar specifications.
What about the Xiaomi 14 Ultra?
Xiaomi is adopting a relatively confusing launch strategy for the 'Ultra' variant. Apparently, the company will launch the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra globally on February 25 at an event at Mobile World Congress. However, in its home market, the company will launch the Xiaomi 14 Ultra on February 22, 2024. Along with the premium device, the company will also launch the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4.
