Although I took my family out of Florida about three years ago, I admit it. I always support my Florida teams such as the Florida Panthers (top of the Atlantic Division), Miami Heat, Miami Marlins and Miami Dolphins. Last year was magical as the Panthers and Heat made it to the finals of their respective sports, the Marlins made the playoffs, and the Dolphins looked like Super Bowl contenders for part of the season.

There are many world-class athletes on my Florida teams, including Matthew Tkachuk, Tyreek Hill, Sandy Alcantara and Jimmy Butler, just to name a few. But last year, a new athlete took his talents to South Beach and became the most famous athlete to ever call South Florida his hometown. More famous than Shaq? More famous than LeBron? More famous than Dan Marino? You bet. Last year, Inter Miami soccer club bought out the contract of international superstar Lionel Messi who quickly became the face of Inter Miami and Major League Soccer.
This is a deal that Apple executives had to stand up and applaud even though their allegiance lies with LA Galaxy FC. That's because Apple TV+ holds the streaming rights to MLS for an additional nine years. Sure enough, the Apple TV+ MLS webpage features a large image of Messi wearing the now-iconic Inter Miami pink jersey. And as I wrote the other day about Apple, it definitely knows who butters its bread. As the season kicks off this Wednesday, Apple writes on the site: “Watch Messi, every club and every match, including the playoffs.”
MLS Season Pass subscriptions for non-Apple TV+ subscribers cost $14.99 per month or $99 for the entire season. Apple TV+ subscribers pay $12.99 per month, or $79 for the entire season. You can subscribe to the MLS Season Pass by by clicking on this link.
