Leica collaboration confirmed: Xiaomi 14 series hits the stage in October

Earlier this month, we shared rumors about the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series and its expected launch in October. Well, the October launch is no longer a rumor: it’s officially happening.

Xiaomi shared on Weibo (via GSMArene), confirming that the Xiaomi 14 series is expected to hit the scene this month. And here’s the headline: their collaboration with Leica for the smartphone camera is now official.

In 2022, Xiaomi partnered with Leica to improve the photography experience on its flagship phones. The flagship phones of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, 13 Ultra and T series all feature Leica-optimized cameras, and the upcoming Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will continue this trend.

According to the Weibo post, Xiaomi and Leica present a next-generation optical system solution. It combines the leading Leica Summilux lens in mobile imaging with a new professional high-dynamic image sensor for mobile optics. Simply put, Xiaomi is about to step up its photography game. This impressive optical system will debut in the Xiaomi 14 series.

Although the exact launch date is not officially confirmed, rumors suggest it could be October 27. The official announcement of the date should come next week.

Just recently, the Chinese company revealed its plans to replace the traditional MIUI with a new operating system called HyperOS. The latest Xiaomi 14 flagships will come pre-installed with HyperOS, designed to go beyond smartphones and unite Xiaomi’s product ecosystem.

In terms of performance, the Xiaomi 14 series is expected to feature Qualcomm’s next premium processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The design is also rumored to depart from its predecessors, with the Xiaomi 14 Pro possibly sporting a titanium frame .
