Verizon changes requirements for the $10 Auto Pay discount،
The vast majority of U.S. carriers offer discounts to their customers if they sign up for Auto Pay. Typically, you would need a debit or credit card to sign up for the autopay system, at least that's what Verizon required until this week.
For some reason, Big Red decided to change the autopay requirements. So, starting February 14, you'll need a Verizon bank account or Visa card to sign up for autopay.
Verizon recently adjusted the Autopay Support Page (via Droid life) to reflect the new changes, here's what the carrier says about the $10 discount offered through Auto Pay:
When you sign up for autopay and paperless billing using your Verizon bank account or Visa card, you get $10/month off. Your discount will be applied starting with your next billing cycle after signing up for autopay and paperless billing.
No official explanation has been given for this change, but it could have something to do with the fees that operators have to pay for each credit card transaction. This is just a guess, and probably doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
You will still need to use a bank account or Verizon Visa card to benefit from the $10 discount in the future.
