Google may show developers some love with the first Android 15 preview on February 15،

Although Google stopped regularly updating its official Android release numbers some time ago, it can be assumed that the latest version of the operating system is far from being widely used in the mobile industry of Today. This is obviously because smartphone manufacturers (with the exception of Samsung and Google itself) remain slower than ever to deliver the latest, smoothest collections of software to older devices.

But that doesn't stop Big G from working tirelessly behind the scenes on the sequel to Android 14. This will of course be known to the general public simply as Android 15, while apparently having a delicious code name internal “Vanilla Ice Cream” and looking set for an official announcement this week.
Specifically, it looks like the first developer preview will be released tomorrow, February 15th, which seems pretty fitting even if it's not yet set in stone. This date was mentioned by a Google developer in a public comment posted to the Android Open Source Project, and while this may still prove to be inaccurate, it certainly appears to be in line with the company's normal software update schedule.
Android 14for example, was announced and released to developers in its initial and decidedly unstable form on February 8, 2023, so Google is already late in making it available to the public. Android 15 show on the road. A year before that, Android 13 was made available in the Developer Preview channel on February 10 before reaching the beta phase on April 26.

With the first Android 14 beta version however released on April 12, 2023, it remains to be seen exactly when Google will judge Android 15 ready for adventurous testers who aren't quite skilled or particularly willing to play with development software.

As for “normal” users, it's clearly way too early to make firm predictions, but if recent history is to be believed, you can probably expect Pixel devices to receive their first stable release . Android 15 updated anytime between August and October.

In the meantime, we will of course discover almost everything there is to know about the new version of the OS, perhaps starting with the few features and optimizations already mentioned in recent months.
