Honor and Gameloft want you to game on a foldable،

Don't you hate it when you just break the bank to buy a foldable and find out that playing on the square-like inner screen isn't the best experience ever? Well, Honor and Gameloft feel your pain. The two companies today announced a partnership to optimize the gaming experience on Porsche Design. Honor the Magic V2 RSR. Fittingly, the first title to be optimized is Asphalt 9: Legends. The runner now runs at 120 frames per second at the native resolution of the Honor the Magic V2and the game's aspect ratio has also been changed to make the most of the foldable's large 7.92-inch screen.

“By rebuilding the rendering process of mobile games using shader replacement technology, reinventing physical textures with GPU-based edge reconstruction technology, and integrating the graphics rendering capabilities of foldable devices with “AI, Honor and Gameloft have reimagined Asphalt 9: Legends to provide players with smooth gameplay, high-fidelity visuals and lightning-fast response times perfectly matched to a large foldable screen for an immersive visual and auditory experience,” reads part of the official announcement.

We don't know how effective this shader replacement technology is, as the optimized game will officially launch later this month (most likely at the MWC event in Barcelona). Porsche design Honor the Magic V2 hasn't received its official price yet, but we expect it to be one of the most expensive foldables in recent times.

The good news is that if you opt for the standard, much more affordable (even if that's not the right word when the phone costs 2000 euros), Honor the Magic V2you will be able to play Asphalt 9 with all the goodies mentioned above.

THE Honor the Magic V2 is already available worldwide (check our review) for £1,699.99/€1,999.99 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and comes in purple and black. We will have to wait and see if such collaborations will give rise to optimized games on other foldables, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 or the OnePlus Open.
