Athletes in Super Bowl 2024 commercials: Brady, Messi, more،

Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will feature stars on the field, at halftime and during a break, with a variety of strong commercials.

A 30-second slot during this year's Super Bowl cost $7 million, according to Ad Age.

Several athletes are expected to headline commercials that will air during the big game.

Lionel Messi made his commercial debut at the Super Bowl alongside Jason Sudeikis and Miami Dolphins legend Dan Marino. Rob Gronkowski returned in a familiar commercial alongside John Cena while Tom Brady and Wayne Gretzky appeared together in a BetMGM article.

Here's a look at notable commercials featuring athletes set to perform in Super Bowl LVIII.

UberEats brings together the stars

The food delivery app has arguably the most star-studded group in its advertising.

It stars former “Friends” costars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer.

Aniston kicks things off before David, Victoria Beckham and Schwimmer appear among many others. Usher concludes with a quip: “I hope I get to play halftime one day, man.”

“Hey Arnold” takes flight

With a group of characters at his side, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is tasked with throwing a rope up a mountain to help the group recover. When his throw fails, Tagovailoa explains that it would be easier if he had a football.

This is where the main character in “Hey Arnold!” comes to play as his football-shaped head catches the eye of Sir Patrick Stewart. The Star Trek star ends up throwing Arnold towards the mountain while Creed's “Take Me Higher” plays in the background.

Josh Allen takes on a Transformer

Alongside Peppa Pig, Allen shows off his throwing arm with a deep ball from Paramount Mountain. Jim Nantz calls Allen's arm a cannon, prompting Scourge, a character from the Transformers franchise, to try to perfect the Buffalo Bills quarterback with his literal cannon arm.

Except it backfires, and Scourge is penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after shouting, “Shut up Jim Nantz.”

Messi shows his skills

Messi joined MLS's Inter Miami in June, increasing attention to the club and league.

He teamed up with Sudeikis and Marino in a Michelob Ultra commercial centered around a beach soccer game. Sudeikis appears on the sidelines as a fan, while Marino returns the ball to Messi, who ends the game with a goal.

Gronk fights for redemption

There aren't many hype men as effective as the late Carl Weathers, who plays Gronkowski's coach in a FanDuel commercial.

The premise is simple: Gronkowski is seeking redemption after missing a field goal during a Super Bowl commercial last year. John Cena is Gronk's doubter, betting he'll screw up again.

M&M's “almost champions”

Falling short of a Super Bowl victory can haunt a player, but M&M's has a new invention to support those who lost in the big game: a comfort ring.

Appearing in his second commercial, Marino explains how M&M's created the ring with help from Scarlett Johansson, Terrell Owens and Bruce Smith (who lost all four Super Bowl appearances with the Bills).

Brady banned from betting

BetMGM is punishing seven-time Super Bowl champion Brady by making sports betting open to everyone…except the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback.

As actor Vince Vaughn says in the commercial: “The truth is, you've earned too much, Tommy. Let the others have their turn.” Gretzky also makes a brief appearance in the commercial.

Peyton Manning and Dana White team up

When a man wearing Manning's Denver Broncos jersey starts the commercial, you know it's heading toward an appearance by the quarterback.

The “Bud Light genius” ends up granting Manning's wish to become someone's best friend and another person ending up in a fight orchestrated by White. Post Malone also appears.

Arnold plays a good neighbor

Arnold Schwarzenegger struggles to say the classic State Farm line: “Like a good neighbor.”

Schwarzenegger takes on Terminator-like tasks that are all interrupted due to his pronunciation issues. Even Jake from State Farm gives him advice. This isn't the end, as a script change teases the commercial that will air during the big game.

Frito-Lay Confetti Chips

Gronk makes his second commercial appearance at Super Bowl LVIII alongside Marshawn Lynch and Troy Polamalu.

Lynch tells Gronk that eating Lays tastes like winning the Super Bowl. When each bag is opened or a bite is taken, confetti flies into the air, just like the Super Bowl post-game celebration.

Athletes show up for Body Armor

The sports drink brand focuses on using real flavors and sweeteners and introduces three new flavors.

They bring in a strong group of athletes including Joe Burrow, Alex Morgan, CeeDee Lamb and Christian McCaffrey.
