iOS 17.3.1 rolls out with a minor bug fix Apple singled out earlier،

iOS 17.3.1 is here as a minor update to iOS 17.3 released over two weeks ago. There's not much in the update except for the bug that caused text to duplicate or overlap when the user was typing.

iOS 17.3.1 is a minor update weighing 298.2 MB (at least on the iPhone 15 Pro Max). The update's changelog doesn't contain much information, although we could say that there may be the usual optimizations and bug fixes aside from duplicate or overlapping text when typing .

You can download iOS 17.3.1 via Settings >> General >> Software Updates to get your hands on the patch. Alternatively, you can keep automatic updates enabled on your iPhone to be notified when an update has arrived and install it as it arrives.

iOS 17.3 arrived with a critical feature called Stolen Device Protection that makes your iPhone theft-resistant by adding a security delay when someone tries to change your phone's password or access certain critical settings. It turns out that iPhone thieves designed their actions to siphon iPhones out of someone's pocket and change their passwords in seconds. With iOS 17.3, it is difficult for thieves to instantly change the password, possibly giving the phone owner enough time to react and report the stolen phone to Apple.

Then iOS 17.4 will be available in March as a major update. It brings many features especially for EU users, including sideloading apps, changing the default search engine, and payment methods on the App Store, to name a few. . There's also a major update to the Stolen Device Protection feature, where it “always” activates rather than when you're only working in “unknown” locations.
