Latest Android Beta Contains References To Pixel Tablet 2: Report

In the latest Android beta, a post found references to the next-generation tablet. For those catching up, Google launched its first tablet last year, called the Pixel Tablet. It came with a 10.95-inch IPS LCD display, Tensor G2 processor, and 8GB of RAM. Naturally, enthusiasts expect the company to release the successor to the Pixel Tablet this year. Now that 9To5Google has reported its existence, we might see it soon.

Android Beta contains references to new devices

On February 8, 2024, Google released Android 14 QPR3 for Pixel phones. In the operating system, 9To5Google found two new, unpublished code names. These codenames are “Clementine” and “Kiyomi”. According to the terminology explained by the publication, these are varieties or examples of Tangors, a hybrid fruit derived from sweet oranges and other citrus fruits.

“We believe the citrus connection indicates that we are looking at early signs of a Pixel Tablet 2,” the publication writes in its report. However, that's the extent of the information available on Google's next-generation tablet. It can, however, be assumed that it will run on the more powerful Tensor G3 SoC and offer several years of Android updates, like the Pixel 8.

Pixel Tablet 2 expected launch schedule

Since the Alphabet-owned company is expected to host the I/O event in May 2024, there's a good chance it could announce it then. However, the release, like last year, could take a while. More details about the Pixel Tablet 2 should emerge soon.
