After the Taylor Swift AI affair, the EU is set to criminalize the sharing of some AI-generated graphic images

The Big House is not the only one to demand legislation and control the phenomenon of fake photos. According to the BBC, one particular AI-based fake of the singer was viewed 47 million times before being removed. Demand is strong. According to the source, this plan will be fully implemented into law by mid-2027. The report states that the EU has also proposed making live streaming of child sexual abuse a new offense criminal. Additionally, the possession and exchange of “pedophile manuals” will be criminalized under the plan. As part of wider measures, the EU says it will aim to strengthen CSA prevention. The European Union is convinced that children must be protected by society. The emergence of AI-generated child sexual abuse images has sparked significant apprehension due to the potential flooding of this type of content on the internet. Although current law in the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries considers most of these images illegal, law enforcement faces obstacles in effectively addressing this problem. There are calls for the European Union to strengthen its laws to make it easier to combat AI-generated abuse, with a particular focus on preventing retraumatization of victims of past abuse.
