New Pixel Fold 2 leak reveals nixed camera bar, form factor changes, more،

And just like that, the wave of Google Pixel Fold 2 leaks began. Following yesterday's rumor that the Pixel Fold 2 could launch alongside the Pixel 9 series with the latest chipset, a new leak offers a glimpse of what Google could have in store for the Pixel Fold 2 in terms of design.

In a report from Android Authoritywhere they received a leaked photo of the upcoming Google Pixel Fold 2, we have a possible reveal of the new design of the device. The second-generation Pixel Fold, if this is the end result, appears to be a completely different animal from its predecessor.

Similarly to the specs leaked yesterday, the photo above of the Pixel Fold 2, was provided by an anonymous source. As you can see, the first thing that stands out (no pun intended) is the redesigned camera body, which this time looks more like a bump than the signature Pixel camera bar.

This redesign replaces said bar with an isolated island at the top left, housing four sensors and an LED flash. This matches design rumors surrounding the Pixel 9 series, indicating a possible departure from the unified camera bar on Pixel phones.
Looking closer, you can also see differences in the size of the cover screen, revealing a narrower display. According to the source, the cover screen is indeed narrower, but the format of the inner screen is closer to a square. This is similar to the OnePlus Open, which sits comfortably between the Pixel folding and the Z Fold 5 in terms of form factor.

Besides the form factor and camera, leaks suggest that the Pixel Fold 2 might share other features with the Pixel 9, such as rounded screens and a sleek aluminum frame. The anonymous source also said that it shared similarities with the first Pixel foldingin terms of premium materials and feel.

Additionally, while there are no photos available to back this up, the source claims that the phone will have a display cutout on the top right, unlike the original. Pixel folding which had the selfie camera built into the bezel. This suggests that the phone will likely have smaller top and bottom bezels. Unfortunately, despite its thinness, the source specifies that there remains a visible crease.

Once again, it is important to note that these early leaks represent an early technical prototype and the design may still undergo significant changes. As is usually the case whenever we near the release of a Google hardware product, more leaks will surely follow as we get closer to October, which could offer a clearer picture of what will look like the final design.
