G24 MOTORCYCLE POWER Review: Design and construction

Most entry-level smartphones have a simplistic and basic design and Power of the Moto G24 followed the same trend. It has a matte finish on the back and sides and is available in 2 shades of blue: Ink Blue and Glacier Blue. I received the Ink Blue model for review and this darker shade of blue seems decent looking.

The design is not particularly sophisticated or elegant, but the minimalist look will appeal to the consumer. The matte finish of the back panel doesn't pick up stains easily which is a good thing and the in-hand feel is also decent. The device is just 8.99mm thick and weighs 197 grams, even though it packs a massive 6,000mAh battery.

The rear panel features a slightly protruding rectangular camera module with 2 camera sensors and an LED flashlight. In the middle is the Motorola logo. On the front, there is an LCD screen and a punch-hole cutout for a selfie sensor. Speaking of functionality, the right edge includes volume rockers and a power button while the left edge has a SIM+ microSD card tray. The bottom edge houses a USB-Type C port and a speaker grille while the top edge has a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you look closely, you'll also see Dolby Atmos branding on the top edge, which is rare for entry-level smartphones.

Additionally, the device is IP52 rated to resist dust, light rain, and splashes. An IP rating on a device under 10k is a big step forward for the brand.

G24 MOTORCYCLE POWER Goodbye: Display

Interior

The Moto G24 Power sports a 6.56-inch HD+ LCD display. It's a decent-sized display with a pixel resolution of 1600×720 and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The HD screen provides good visuals when consuming content or gaming. The visuals are sharp and vibrant, and feature an average amount of detail. Viewing angles and dynamic range are about average. The bezels on the chin are thicker than the other three sides, but that's normal in this price range. The refresh rate is smooth when it maxes out at 90Hz, but during tasks like streaming video and loading apps, it drops to 60Hz and there were times when lag could also be felt. felt.

Outside

The screen supports a maximum brightness of 537 nits, which works indoors but outdoors under direct sunlight, the screen is barely visible. It is very difficult to use the device even when the brightness is set to maximum. HDR support is not available, but you can choose Natural and Saturated color options.

The device comes with a quick view option that can be enabled to see quick information and notifications when the screen is off. This works because one cannot expect AOD in a smartphone under 10,000 INR.

Motorola could have worked a little harder to improve the peak brightness and overall screen quality.

G24 MOTORCYCLE POWER Goodbye: Performance

THE Power of the Moto G24 is powered by MediaTek Helios G85 SoC combined with Arm Mali0-G52 MC2 GPU, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The RAM ensures a fast and lag-free experience while the 128GB storage provides enough space to store everything you want in your gallery. Storage can be increased up to 1TB using a microSD card.

The device works well as a daily driver, with tasks like calls, streaming, and social media browsing running smoothly and without lag. However, there were times when the device stuttered when switching between apps or when using the camera app for extended periods of time. The benchmark results are given below.

The Moto G24 Power doesn't perform well when it comes to gaming. Causal light games like Candy Crush Saga, Temple Run, Ludo King, and Township ran seamlessly. However, heavy titles like BGMI start to slow down and the device starts to hang up after a few minutes. The phone temperature also starts to increase when the game lasts longer. The Dolby Atmos speakers provide a decent audio experience.

In terms of software, Moto G24 Power runs MY UX based on Android 14 out of the box. The best part is that like other Moto devices, this one also offers a clean UI experience. It only comes with a few preloaded apps that can be easily uninstalled. This is one thing that sets it apart from competitors in the segment. Additionally, there are features like quick capture gestures, wallpapers, widgets, themes, parental control options, etc. The company also offers three years of security updates.

G24 MOTORCYCLE POWER Goodbye: Cameras

Cameras are not the strong point of Motorola's budget and mid-range smartphones. The same can be said about the Moto G24 Power. It has a dual camera setup on the back, comprising a 50 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP macro sensor. On the front there is a 16 MP selfie sensor.

Talking about the main camera, the 50MP sensor takes photos with good colors and decent details in daylight. Details are diluted in some photos and colors appear enhanced, but overall the photo will be suitable for a casual user. The only problem is that the essence of the image is sometimes lost, like for example in the photo of the bird below, its body and texture are not precisely clear. Landscape photos are okay, but those with details sometimes look inadequate.

Clicking photos in HDR mode improves sharpness and detail a bit, but there's not too much difference.

HDR

The 2MP macro camera does not have autofocus. The details are very less in these photos although they are close-ups. Colors appear saturated and there is slight blurring at the edges when you zoom in. It is best to use the primary sensor for clicking close-ups or portraits.

The 16MP selfie sensor delivers decent daylight selfies when the lighting is good. The face looks natural and the skin tone is close to real when the filters are turned off. These images can be considered social media-worthy depending on the user's preferences. The subject is in focus but the details are limited.

Motorola could have improved the main and front sensors instead of stuffing the 2MP macro camera, which is almost useless.

G24 MOTORCYCLE POWER Summary: battery life and charge

Battery is one of the USPs of Power of the Moto G24. The device packs a massive 6,000mAh battery under the hood, which proves to be a good solution for those who need prolonged usage without the need for continuous charging. Once fully charged, the battery easily lasts a day and a half with moderate use. Moderate use includes calling, texting, listening to music, consuming content, browsing social media, and light gaming. Even if you are a heavy user, the battery lasts an entire work day and needs to be recharged at night.

Motorola has provided a 33W power adapter in the box. It allows you to recharge the smartphone from 0 to 100% in approximately 110 minutes. It takes about an hour to charge from 0 to 50%. The charging time may seem long, but you can't expect super-fast charging capability on an entry-level device.

Review Verdict: If you buy the Power of the Moto G24?

The Moto G24 Power is an attractive budget option, priced starting at Rs. 9,999. 8249 for the 4 GB RAM model. The smartphone comes with a 6,000mAh battery, Clean UI experience, sleek and minimalist design, IP52 rating, and 33W charging capacity. So if you are someone who prioritizes duration from battery life, to the build, design and clean UI experience, then the Moto G24 can be your choice. However, if your focus is on camera, display or gaming, then Moto G34, Realme 12, Samsung Galaxy M14 or Realme Narzo N53 will be better options.
