It’s unlikely, but could we see Sony’s long-rumored foldable Xperia F at MWC?،

As published in Summary of Sumaho (via Gizmochina), a purported Sony insider has revealed information that could explain why Sony isn't moving full speed ahead in the foldable market. This insider reportedly said she was determined to have 70% of new foldable users return to a traditional smartphone with their next purchase. This is not based on any specific evidence it has and does not officially constitute Sony's position on the matter.

Still, the Sony insider says that if she's right, foldable penetration in the global smartphone market is likely to start to decline following the initial surge in foldables we've seen over the past few years. If this data is legitimate, in the short term sales of foldable smartphones will continue to grow but eventually decline as many of those who try them return to the traditional form factor with their next phone.

The Sony Xperia F is rumored to sport a 7-inch 4K resolution display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. This would make the internal display slightly wider than the 22:9 screens of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Razr+.

Flip foldable phones are very popular as the Galaxy Z Flip models have been the most popular foldable phones for the past three years. Rumors also suggest that to attract buyers in what is becoming a very competitive sector for the smartphone market, Sony could add gaming capabilities to the Xperia F.
Sony has traditionally unveiled its handsets at MWC and is expected to showcase new handsets on February 26 in Barcelona. Could we then see the foldable Xperia F introduced? So far, there have been no renders or leaks of such a device, but there are still three weeks until Sony holds its MWC event. Keep your fingers crossed.
