Special Android 14 Beta update is rolling out now to just one Pixel model to fix serious bugs،

Late last week, Google released a special build of Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.2 for a single Pixel phone. No, it's not the Pixel Fold (I can read your mind). The update is for the mid-range Pixel 5a and Google is discussing the fix on the Android beta Reddit. The build number is AP11.231215.010 and the patch fixes 15 issues that affected the Pixel 5a after Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.1 has been installed. Moreover, for those who are curious, the device was initially released in August 2021.

These issues caused the Pixel 5a to boot slowly while the UI lags or freezes:

If you own a Pixel 5a and are already a subscriber to Android 14 Beta program, you will automatically receive this OTA update. The fix is rolling out and you can check if it has arrived by going to Settings > System > System updates.

How to join the Android 14 beta program if you're not already a subscriber

If you are not subscribed to Android 14 Beta program, you can do it in by clicking on this link (or by going to g.co/androidbeta). Tap the rectangle that says “View your eligible devices.” You will be redirected to a warning stating: “The updates you receive under the beta program are pre-release versions and may contain errors and defects that may affect the normal operation of your device.”

The warning continues: “You will not be able to unsubscribe and revert to a stable public version of Android without first erasing all data saved locally on your device. You may also have problems restoring a backup. We recommend that you Please review the latest release notes for Pixel Phones before signing up for the Android beta.” In other words, if you're using the Pixel 5a as your daily driver, you might want to not subscribe to the beta program, as beta software is notoriously unstable.

Pixel 5a users are excited about the patch

If you're still interested, scroll down a bit until you see a photo of your Pixel 5a device. Below the image is a button that says Opt-in. Press this button, follow the instructions and usually you will immediately have the latest Android 14 QPR2 beta version sent to your phone.

Pixel 5a users have been delighted since installing the update. One wrote on Reddit: “My 5a works 200% better.” Another said: “This may be the most significant Android update of my entire life. My phone was almost unusable for the last 3 weeks. Wow, what a glorious feeling to see the burden lifted off my shoulders .”

Again, this patch was reserved for the Pixel 5a only, as it appears that model was hit the most by Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.1.
