“Suzuka is a special circuit and part of the sporting fabric, so I am delighted that F1 will continue to race there at least until 2029,” said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Suzuka first hosted a Japanese Grand Prix in 1987 and, apart from a two-year hiatus in 2007 and 2008 when the race was moved to Fuji Speedway and another two-year hiatus during the COVID pandemic- 19 in 2020 and 2021, it has hosted a grand prix every year since.

The Honda-owned circuit has agreed to move from October to April this year as part of F1's efforts to minimize the environmental impact of freight transport during the season.

“As we prepare to return to Japan earlier than usual this season, I would like to express my immense gratitude to the promoter and team at Honda MobilityLand for supporting our efforts towards further streamlining of the calendar as we let's make sport more sustainable,” Domenicali said. added.

“Our fans in Japan embrace Formula 1 with a unique passion and we look forward to working with the promoter to provide fans with the experience they deserve for years to come.”

This news follows the addition of a street circuit in Madrid from 2026, in a context where new F1 venues are based far from permanent facilities like Suzuka.

This year's program will feature a record 24 races – the limit currently agreed by the teams, the FIA and F1.
