Not only did the phone look really cool, with its transparent back and LED lights, but it was also priced very competitively. According to Pei himself, the company sold the first model at a loss. The second iteration built on this, fixing bugs and imperfections and giving the public a much more polished product. Now it's time to talk about the third version, the Nothing Phone (3), and compile everything we know about this cool phone. It's still early, so this article is now at the “what do we want to see” stage rather than based on hard facts, but there are some rumors circulating that deserve our attention. Nothing Phone 3 release date
- Probable announcement: July 2024
- Probable start date for pre-orders: July 2024

- Planned timetable and probable dates: We don't have any concrete dates yet, but judging by the previous release's time window, we should expect the phone to be announced sometime in July 2024.
- Typical release schedule: We don't expect Nothing to wait too long before making the phone available for purchase. We also don't expect a huge pre-order campaign. Previous models went on sale just a few days after the official announcement (July 12-16 for the original model, and July 11-17 for the Nothing Phone (2)).
- Importance of release: Normally, the month of July is quite rare when it comes to smartphone announcements. The Galaxy Z series takes up the month of August and in July we might get a new Zenfone or Xperia but nothing major. Nothing Phone's release date is strategically placed to generate maximum attention with minimum distraction.

Nothing price phone 3
- Current expectations: The price of the Nothing Phone (3) is not known at this time. To do this, we must rely on extrapolation and common sense. The original Nothing Phone never came to the United States and sold for the equivalent of $500, while the Nothing Phone (2) starts at $600. We could get a similar price for the Nothing Phone (3), but more likely is a price hike.
- Possible price increase: The economic challenges we are facing along with high inflation rates have driven up the prices of many flagship phones last year and also this year. This could prove to be the case with the Nothing Phone (3), especially if Carl Pei decides to jump on the AI bandwagon (like everyone else) this year. We could be looking at something around $700.
- What this means for you: To put it simply, the Nothing Phone (3) could break out of the mid-range category and attempt to be an affordable flagship, judging by its price. As to whether or not we will see a price increase, that remains highly speculative.

Nothing from the phone 3 camera
- What's new: We don't know at this point, but we have a few theories. Both the Nothing Phone (1) and (2) came with a dual-camera system on the back, and we should expect the same from the Nothing Phone (3). The previous generation relied on a 50 MP Sony IMX890 for its main sensor, phase detection autofocus, and optical image stabilization, so we can at least expect this sensor to make its way to the Nothing Phone (3).
- Zoom: Given the Nothing Phone's form factor and brand pedigree, we don't expect a dedicated periscope zoom camera to appear on the Nothing Phone (3). It's much more plausible to get a sensor zoom crop from the main camera, which will result in 2x magnification and nice portraits.
Nothing storage on phone 3
- Actual status: If we take a look at the original Nothing Phone and its successor, it's clear that there's a trend. We get the three most popular storage options: 128, 256 and 512 GB. It's too early to know if this will remain the case. On the one hand, the lower storage threshold is quickly moving away from the 128GB point, but it's too early to say whether the Nothing Phone (3) will adopt 256GB as its base storage.
- 1 TB version possible: Given the phone's mid-range status, a 1TB version seems unlikely. However, if Carl Pei decides to upgrade the phone and compare it to flagships, we might get a 1TB Nothing Phone (3). But at this point, that seems like huge speculation.

Nothing design for the phone 3
- Transparent back: The Nothing Phone 3 has been notoriously difficult to keep secret. Maintaining a clear lineage from its predecessors, Nothing is expected to retain the transparent back design of its upcoming flagship. The distinctive visual element, coupled with the likelihood that Glyph lights will make a comeback, reinforces the company's commitment to unique aesthetics and customizable LED notifications.
- Glyph interface: The Glyph interface will likely reappear on the back of the Nothing Phone (3), but we don't know the exact number of LEDs, zones or features. There is a strong possibility of seeing the interface further refined with different light patterns supporting more notifications.

- Brightness increase: The Nothing Phone (2) has seen significant improvements in its display, and it looks like Nothing could continue that trend with the Nothing Phone (3). The existing model features a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,600 nits peak brightness, and HDR10+ support. Given the latest trend of releasing crazy brightness numbers, we expect Nothing to join the race and announce 2,000+ nits or something in that vicinity for the Nothing Phone (3).
- Higher refresh rate: The current generation Nothing Phone already has a 120Hz LTPO display, so there's no point going any higher, as those territories are reserved for gaming phones, like the ROG Phone. We don't expect higher refresh rates on the Nothing Phone (3).
- Size change possible: Another trend in the industry is slightly larger screens this year (e.g. the Galaxy S24 series), so we might see a slight increase in size. The Nothing Phone (3) could be equipped with a 6.8-inch screen, but it is much more plausible that it retains the 6.7-inch panel of its predecessor.
Nothing phone 3 battery
- Capacity increase: The Nothing Phone (2) comes with a 4,700mAh battery, which is rather weak considering the size of the phone. We're expecting a capacity increase, aiming for 5,000mAh, but that could be modest, landing at 4,880mAh or something in that vicinity.
- Charging speed: The latest generation Nothing supports 45W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging. It's time to step up, considering most smartphones are showing very impressive numbers (65W, 80W, and some go to the extreme with 100-120 W).
- What this means for you: More battery means more battery life and faster charging means… well, faster charging and less time on the cable. We'd like to see the Nothing Phone (3) last a full two days and charge its 5,000mAh battery in less than an hour, but that's just speculation at the moment.
Nothing Phone 3 Features and Software
- Original Android: There's no mixing style with substance, both in hardware and software, avoiding unnecessary bloatware. When you look at the Nothing Phone (1), it's like a Pixel phone, but without some Pixel-exclusive features. Now, with the Nothing Phone (2), Carl Pei improved the game by introducing some rather interesting theme options. You can even give your home screen a sleek black and white look, and lock screen widgets are a thoughtful touch. We expect the same sleek and stylish software to appear on the Nothing Phone (3).
- Seven years of software updates: This one is a bit tough. We know that Google and now Samsung offer a full seven years of major OS and security updates, but for a company as small as Nothing, this would be difficult and it could also affect the price of the final product.
- Nothing AI: This year will be the year of AI. All the big players are introducing their own AI solutions, and we are sure Nothing will do the same. We don't yet know if it will have a name and a separate location on the announcement stage, or if it will be integrated into the camera or UI.
Nothing Phone 3 Hardware and Specifications
- Processor: Nothing normally uses processors a generation older, the Nothing Phone (2) comes with an integrated Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so it's safe to say that the Nothing Phone (3) will not join the Snapdragon 8 Gen group 3. It's more likely that we'll get the Gen 2 version, which isn't too bad.
- RAM: We would likely have the usual 8GB base version and 12GB variants for larger storage models. Do we need a 16GB version of the Nothing Phone (3)? Probably not, given the high price of this product, and if the price exceeds the $1,000 mark, all will be defeated. Carl Pei I wanted the Nothing Phone to symbolize.
Should I wait for the Nothing Phone 3?
- You should wait for the Nothing Phone 3 if you want to get something fresh and amazing without breaking the bank. The transparent back along with the Glyph interface and minimalist UI make this phone a unique choice.
- You shouldn't wait for the Nothing Phone 3 if you don't like phones with an original look and you are perfectly comfortable with an iPhone or a Galaxy. You can easily find a model in this price bracket.
