It's not the first confrontation Ten Hag has had with a player during his time at Old Trafford following rows with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, but the Dutchman insists he won't change his approach to management of his team.

“In football you need discipline, both on and off the pitch,” Ten Hag said at a press conference on Wednesday.

“There is a line and every player, every professional knows it. They know what is required. We have to focus on winning football matches and that is what matters and every top professional knows what is required. is required.”

Following a meeting between Ten Hag and Rashford on Monday, United released a statement saying the England striker had “taken responsibility” for his actions and would be available for the trip to Wolves on Thursday.

When asked about Rashford's reaction to the incident, Ten Hag remained tight-lipped.

“He took his responsibilities and for the rest, it’s an internal matter, a closed case,” he said.

Asked if Rashford's behavior showed a “lack of respect” towards his manager, Ten Hag replied: “That has nothing to do with it. Like I said, the case is closed .”

After scoring 30 goals last season, Rashford has struggled to find form this season, scoring just four times in 26 games. However, he has scored two goals and registered two assists in his last three games and Ten Hag will be hoping the 26-year-old can continue this success.

“There is a strong and developing bond between Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund and we want to continue this process,” he said.
