Even though it's only now that some phones are receiving the Android 14 update, here we're talking about Android 15 which is months and months away. It's the law: in technology, nothing is too far and everything is up for discussion.

This time it's not about dreams and wishes. Instead, there are some interesting findings in the Android 14 QPR (Quarterly Platform Releases) beta 3 code that suggest something fascinating could be part of Android 15 it should happen this fall.

According to Android Authority report, the results are related to audio sharing and the Auracast standard. Without going too deep into code strings or getting too technical, it's safe to say that if this functionality is built in, Android 15 will make you a DJ.

What is Auracast?

“Auracast audio streaming is a new Bluetooth feature that will deliver life-changing audio experiences. It will allow you to share your audio, reactivate your world and hear the best of yourself, improving the way you interact with others and the world around you,” it reads. the official Auracast page.Basically, with Auracast, you'll be able to connect multiple pairs of headphones, speakers, and audio devices to a single source (e.g. your phone) and launch these shared music sessions.

This isn't the first time we've talked about Auracast. In late August 2023, Samsung announced that after an update, an “unlimited” number of Galaxy Buds 2 Pro earbuds could be connected to select Samsung TVs.

Auracast opens up a variety of potential use cases and possibilities for other on-device applications – from augmented or assisted listening in a theater or conference room for those who need hearing aid, to sharing 'a playlist from your smartphone while running with friends. Samsung says there's even a way to get multilingual support without a translation device by sending different language interpretations through different channels.
