OnePlus Open specs leak on eve of unveiling; both displays will be the brightest on any smartphone،

Yesterday we told you that reliable tipster Digital Chat Station posted on Weibo that the OnePlus 12 will have the brightest display in the US when the device releases later this year. The phone’s screen is rumored to have a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, which would bring it closer to the 2,600 nits of peak brightness that the Oppo Find X6’s screen is capable of. Oppo doesn’t sell its phones in the US, which makes the Pixel 8 Pro and its 2,400 nits of peak brightness the leader in the US right now.
However, with the unveiling of the OnePlus Open foldable tomorrow, specifications for the device have been leaked, which, if true, would make this OnePlus phone’s screen the brightest not only in the US, but in the whole world. By tipster Yogesh Brar (via Tom’s Guide), the technical sheet disclosed for the OnePlus Open shows that both external and internal displays will be able to reach 2,800 nits of peak brightness, which would outperform all phones including the Oppo Find X6.
The leaked spec sheet reportedly shows that the external display features a 6.31-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,800 nits of peak brightness. The internal display measures 7.82 inches and also offers a 120Hz refresh rate with 2,800 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, you will find a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and the device sports 16GB of RAM along with 512GB of storage.
The rear camera array includes a 48 MP primary sensor supporting the main camera, a 48 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64 MP telephoto camera that offers 3x optical zoom. To keep the lights on, a 4,805mAh battery supports 80W fast charging (reduced to 67W in Europe). The internal screen has a 20 MP selfie sensor and a 32 MP camera handles selfies when the internal screen is in use. The phone will be available in Voyager Black and Emerald Dusk. Based on Android 13, OxygenOS 13.2 will come pre-installed.
If you are considering purchasing this device, please be aware that the OnePlus Open is said to carry an IP X4 rating for ingress protection. This means the phone is not protected against dust, which can spoil the works of a foldable phone, and it is protected against light splashes, light rain, and sweat. Unlike the IP-rated Pixel Fold X8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the OnePlus Open does not provide protection if the phone is submerged.
