Sony Xperia 1 VI rear camera specs leak; phone will be unveiled next month at MWC،

Last September, there was speculation that Sony would introduce the Xperia 1 VI around a month after unveiling the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. The latter took place on January 17 and now that we are approaching the month, it seems that Sony is preparing to introduce its next-generation Xperia handsets to the world. Leaked promotional information purportedly from Sony reveals what we can expect the phone's rear camera array to look like.
Based on leaked marketing image posted by account “X” @INSIDERSONY (via Notebookcheck.net), it looks like the three rear camera sensors used on the Xperia 1 VI will weigh 48MP. The trio are all Exmor Ts for mobile sensors with a two-layer Pixel Transistor. Last year's Xperia 1 V used a 48 MP Exmor T sensor for its rear cameras, while the other two cameras were backed by 12 MP sensors.

The leak went into more detail about each sensor used. One of the three Exmor T sensors for mobiles measures 1/1.4 inch with a pixel size of 1.12 μm and an aperture of f/1.4. It also has full-pixel dual PD autofocus and can provide 2x optical zoom. The upcoming Sony Exmor T sensor for mobile is for the ultra-wide angle camera and measures 1/2.7 inches with a pixel size of 0.6 μm. It features Sony's 2×2 OCL (On-Chip Lens) technology that provides improved sensitivity, capture resolution, dynamic range and speed. The third Exmor T sensor for mobile is the same size as the sensor used for the ultra-wide camera, but it is a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 6x sensor crop zoom.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is expected to be presented on February 26 at MWC 2024 in Barcelona. This was stated in a second poster shared by @INSIDERSONY. If a Weibo article we discussed with you last month has any legitimate information, this year's Xperia phones could be Sony's last under that brand name. Sony is reportedly dropping the Xperia name for 2025 and using a new design language for next year's phones.
Starting from scratch might be the best thing for Sony given that the Xperia line has failed to capture the smartphone buying public, leaving Sony with a 0.35% share of the global smartphone market.
