WhatsApp Communities testing more simplified event organization with auto-pinned upcoming events،

A new feature is currently being tested by WhatsApp in its community group chats that could make event planning simpler. This feature automatically prioritizes upcoming community events by displaying them prominently on the community information screen.

Currently, individuals or group admins must manually pin important messages, such as details about upcoming events. However, in the latest WhatsApp Android app beta (v2.24.3.20). this manual step may no longer be necessary at all.

This was actually spotted by the site WABetaInfo, noting that now, whenever a community member hosts an event, it is displayed at the top of the community information page. This feature serves as a helpful reminder and central hub of information for everyone involved in said community.

This new feature builds on a previously discovered feature that allows users to schedule events in group chats by tapping the attachment icon. The combination of these features creates a streamlined process for organizing and staying informed about community events.

As it is only available in beta at the moment, only a select group of users are currently testing this feature. However, based on reports from WABetaInfo, it appears that the feature is close to being released to the public. It's worth noting that the WhatsApp beta is available through the Google Play Store, but requires signing up for the beta program, which has proven very difficult in recent years as it's always bursting at the seams. This automated pinning feature can be a valuable asset for busy WhatsApp communities that typically host multiple events. Removing the human element of having to manually pin the event each time can be a respite for admins, as they will no longer have to worry about events being buried in the calendar or overlooked.
