Realme 12 Pro+ gets OnePlus 12-like periscope lens under INR 30,000،
The premium Realme 12 Pro 5G range is here and on schedule. It brings a world-class blend of cutting-edge photography, premium design and impeccable specifications under the hood. It also brings Realme's famous periscope lens, second only to Realme X3 SuperZoom in 2020.
Both phones are designed by Swiss watchmaker Olliveir Saveo and that's something you can spot in the design itself. Let's see how a Realme 12 Pro Plus priced at just INR 30,000 takes on a OnePlus 12 at INR 65,000 with its powerful periscope camera setup.
Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro Plus price and availability
Realme 12 Pro is available in two variants namely 8GB + 128GB at INR 25,999/- while the higher 8GB + 256GB is listed at INR 26,999/-. The higher Realme 12 Pro Plus has three versions: 8GB + 128GB is listed at INR 29,999/-, the 8GB + 256GB version is listed at INR 31,999/-, and finally, the high-end 12GB + version. 256 GB. is priced at INR 33,999/-. Both devices are expected to be available on February 6 on the Realme website and Flipkart.
Realme launches the almighty Realme 12 Pro with a periscope camera
The Realme 12 Pro duo is here and more common than ever. Both share the same design DNA with a blue and beige vegan leather back panel (the Plus also gets a red option). Both phones are IP65 rated, like the OnePlus 12, which is a nice feature without spending almost double the amount.
Both phones come with a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED panel with 1080p resolution and can light up at a maximum brightness of 950 nits. Information regarding HDR support is not available although Realme has integrated ProXDR, a feature that allows users to view high-quality HDR photos without compromising on the highlights. Realme also didn't mention a screen protector, although we assume it's there since you're still paying a lot.
Next, the Realme 12 Pro Plus adopts a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC paired with 8/12 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage. Yes, you can't expand the storage, but that doesn't set the Realme 12 Pro series apart, many others share the same trait. The Realme 12 Pro adopts a less powerful Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage.
Both phones run on Android 14 flavored Realme UI 5.0 and will require two major upgrades in the future, if not more.
When it comes to optics, of course, the Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G triumphs in all respects. It has a triple rear camera setup housing a 50MP pixel fusion technology Sony IMX890 4-in-1 main camera with OIS. There is an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and finally a 64 MP OV64B periscope lens with OIS, a 4-in-1 pixel fusion technology that ensures excellent periscope photography on the device.
This is how you get a OnePlus 12-like periscope camera for half the price, which is amazing. You can get up to 6x with the in-sensor zoom while the digital zoom would take you up to 120x. Of course, that doesn't mean you can expect the Realme 12 Pro Plus to take over from the OP12, but it's good competition at a great price. Its front camera has a 32MP sensor.
As for the standard Pro version, aka the Realme 12 Pro, it also has a triple rear camera. It houses a 50 MP Sony IMX822 main camera with OIS, a 32 MP Sony IMX709 2x telephoto lens, and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera on the back. The front has a 16MP shooter and this complements the optical section.
Battery-wise, we get a 5,000mAh battery paired with 67W SuperVOOC charging. You might say it's a 100W drop from the predecessor, but it is what it is . 67W technology takes the battery from 0 to 50% in 19 minutes; and 48 minutes for a full charge.
Other features include 5G support, stereo speakers, USB-C 2.0, under-display fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, and Wi-Fi 6 dual band.
