Microsoft to add touch controls to its Xbox app for iOS and Android

Microsoft plans to make it easier to remotely control an Xbox console or play games on phones and tablets by adding touch controls to its Xbox mobile apps. This means users will no longer need Bluetooth controllers connected to their phone when using Xbox mobile apps.

According to Tom Warren of The VergeMicrosoft has already started testing the new touch controls, which appear similar to those in the company's Xbox Cloud Gaming service.

While using a Bluetooth controller with the Xbox mobile app provides a much better experience, many users don't have one. So adding touch controls gives them functionality they wouldn't be able to use otherwise.

Still, the report claims that Microsoft's implementation of touch controls is “surprisingly good,” making it a great alternative for those who already own a Bluetooth controller but want more convenience.

There is no ETA at this time, but touch controls will eventually be available to all users of Microsoft's Xbox mobile apps. It is important to add that the touch controls will work with almost all games available on the platform, which seems to be a great achievement.
